A scientist position is open in the field of nanocatalysis
J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of the CAS, v.v.i., offers a scientist position in the Department of Nanocatalysis.
The offered position is part of the research team at the newly established Department of Nanocatalysis, which is focusing on catalysis by supported atomic clusters. The candidate is expected to be involved in all stages of research including experimental work, analysis and interpretation of data, and publication of results. The applicant will participate in studies of size-selected clusters, which includes, but is not limited to, the synthesis of metallic and oxide clusters in the gas phase and for the deposition of clusters on substrates, studies of the catalytic properties of clusters. We welcome candidates who have extended experience with the operation of vacuum equipment for the studies of ionic gas phase species (atoms, molecules or clusters), and who are proficient in the studies of the reactivity of such species, including spectroscopic characterization of such systems.
PhD degree in physics, chemistry, or a related field;
good written and oral communication skills in English.
experienced in the mass spectrometry and guiding of charged species;
skilled in the operation of custom ultra-high vacuum scientific equipment for the preparation of ionic cluster or molecules in molecular beams;
experience with reactivity of clusters and infrared spectroscopy a plus;
experience with theoretical modelling of related systems a plus;
skilled in data acquisition, data analysis and interpretation;
a good scientific publication record;
- at least 2 years of postdoctoral or other research experience.
Expected start of the position: 1st of April, 2019
Duration of the job: up to 50 months
Contract type: full-time position
