Overview

Institute of Plasma Physics of the Czech Academy Sciences of the Czech Republic (IPP) has initiated construction of a new large scientific experiment in the field of the thermonuclear fusion research – the COMPASS Upgrade tokamak. IPP is looking for an experienced physicist for the diagnostic group of the tokamak department, who will be involved in coordination of the physics research on the COMPASS tokamak using microwave diagnostics, the full utilization of the microwave reflectometer, the microwave radiometer and the interferometer for physics tasks including advanced and real-time data processing. Development of microwave systems for the COMPASS Upgrade is also expected.

Job description:

·       coordination of the physics research using microwave diagnostics (utilization of the microwave reflectometer, the microwave radiometer and the interferometer for physics tasks including advanced and real-time data processing)

·       development of microwave systems for the COMPASS Upgrade

Requirements and skills:

·       university education in physics or electrical, nuclear or physical engineering (doctoral or equivalent level)

·       professional experience in the field of microwave systems

·       to be familiar with physics of plasma-wave interaction

·       English – working knowledge

Beneficial is:

·       knowledge of microwave reflectometry and interferometry and relevant modelling and programming in Python, Matlab or IDL
